DTE (Direct To Edit), or DVR (Digital Video Recorder) are generally hard disk drives inside a host device that is designed specifically for recording video & audio from cameras via analog or Firewire interfaces. They record files that are editing system ready, eliminating the need to redigitize video from a tape playback machine into the editing computer. Some are also capable of storing Metadata along with the video to help identify clips. |
